BACK TO SCHOOL
’Girls should have the education they need to succeed in life’.
This project aims to resolve the issues of school drop outs among girls and supports second chance education for teenage mothers who dropped out of school due to pregnancy, discrimination, ignorance and or conflicts. Education is essential for girls to be able to drive their lives and become agents of change. We run extra mural classes at the some public secondary schools, and enroll out of school girls back to school. We run some scholarship programmes and have sent so many young girls back to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Schools. There is a global learning crisis driven by covid 19 pandemic, conflict, insecurities and climate change. Educational systems are often not delivering the knowledge and skills needed in a changing world. There is urgent need for efforts to support inclusive and quality education. To deliver gender transformative education which has gender equality as a central goal. Increasing access to quality education, supporting wider access to continuous education through innovative and adaptable methods including digital, amplifying the voice of young people in education advocacy, improving curriculum and learning materials, influencing government spending and policies, improving governance, school environment and safety.
Advocating for changes and developments in laws, policies and regulations around Education. Gender transformative and learners centrered approach that enhance learning in reading and writing and building social and emotional skills, adolescent girls join literacy and numeracy programmes. Raise awareness on the importance of girl child education and their risk of violence, abuse and exploitation.
Out of school girls gained access to education through the girls club, this helps participants share information about girls at risk of missing education. Protection from violence, Girls should grow up free from violence, fear and discrimination and the gender inequalities that impoverish them, gender sensitive child protection activities for girls. Supported over 150 adolescent girls to join the Girls Club together for change and gender justice and advocate for the prevention gender-based violence. We worked against trafficking in persons by working with partners, with local knowledge and conducted research on the trafficking in persons and irregular migration. Worked in some communities to improving the mental health and psychosocial support for abused girls, provision of safe spaces and awareness raising of risks of sexual exploitation and trafficking. School counseling, which provide knowledge and skills on prevention and response to gender based violence. The school bullying prevention project trained teachers in participatory approaches to working with students on approaches to reduce bullying at schools.
