Mother of Good Counsel Initiative (MOGCI) is a registered Non-Governmental and Not-for-Profit Organization committed to reducing inequalities among genders through training, mentoring and inspiring grassroots Women and Girls on life, vocational, entrepreneurial and leadership skills which empower them with the knowledge and courage necessary to break free from the chains of limiting belief patterns and societal/religious barriers that have traditionally kept Women/Girls suppressed and unable to see their true potentials in the Niger Delta Region of the Country.

MOGCI saw the need to work with the vulnerable girls in the region as a proactive measure in preventing gender based violence in the long run. This necessitated the establishment of Mater Dei Girls Centre for girls and other young women who are abused/distressed and in need of mentorship or rehabilitation. The centre also provides a ‘Safe Space’ for the physical and emotional security of abused/distressed girls and young women.
