The 2025 International Day of the Girl Child and the 14th Anniversary celebration of Mother of Good Counsel Initiative were successfully held on the 11th of October, 2025, at Landmark Hotels.
The event was organized to celebrate and empower the girl child while creating awareness on the need for young girls to remain focused, informed and protected in today’s society. The program brought together students, educators, parents, community leaders, invited guests and stakeholders committed to the development and protection of the girl child.
The theme of the celebration, “Shine Your Eyes, Be Smart, Protect Your Dreams,” emphasized the importance of wisdom, self-awareness, education and purposeful living among young girls. Speakers at the event encouraged participants to remain vigilant, make responsible decisions and avoid negative influences capable of destroying their future aspirations.
During the program, various resource persons spoke on issues affecting the girl child, including peer pressure, social media influence, education, career development, personal safety and self-worth. The speakers advised the girls to remain confident, disciplined and committed to pursuing their dreams despite societal challenges.
One of the major highlights of the event was the Award of 14 Role Models in recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in service, leadership, mentorship and contributions towards youth and community development. The awardees were celebrated for their positive impact and dedication to inspiring younger generations.
The event also featured motivational talks, interactive sessions, networking opportunities and goodwill messages from guests and partners. Participants expressed appreciation to the organizers for creating a platform that promotes the growth, protection and empowerment of the girl child.
The management and members of Mother of Good Counsel Initiative were commended for sustaining the vision of empowering young people over the past fourteen years and for organizing a successful and impactful celebration.
